-LAGOS AND ENUGU LEAD A record 638 entries for the Life In my City Art Festival (LIMCAF) art competition have been received for 2024, an increase of just over 12% over 2023, after the close of entries on 31 May 2024. Sorting of entries according to Regional Centres shows that the Lagos Region leads with 106 entries with Enugu following with 88 entries. Abuja is third with 69 entries. In a statement in Enugu after the sorting of entries LIMCAF’s Art Director, congratulated the young artists from all over Nigeria who have kept faith with the LIMCAF project since its inception in 2007, trusting in the uncompromising fairness and integrity of the competition’s processes. He emphasized that LIMCAF remains steadfast in its mission to cultivate and continuously upscale the talents and creative potentials of young and emerging artists in Nigeria through empowering them in the various ways to advance their careers. Dr Adewunmi said this with reference to the newly introduced special prizes and training opportunities for persons living with disabilities which will be held in Abuja and Enugu in July this year. He announced that other new and special training opportunities are currently being fine-tuned and will be announced during the Gala and Award Night in October adding that the Abuja workshop for persons living with disabilities in by special request, following the success recorded last year in Enugu. Dr. Adewunmi announced that a schedule of regional exhibitions for 2024 has now been published beginning with Lagos on Saturday 15 June, 2024 and followed by Abuja on June 20. The 2024 Regional Exhibitions themed "Humanism," will unfold across 13 regional centers in all the six geopolitical regions of the country. They showcase the extraordinary artistic talents from the youth of Nigeria from all corners of Nigeria speaking loudly about their lived environment.
